概览
灵隐寺位于西湖西北灵隐山麓，始建于东晋咸和元年（326 年），由印度僧人慧理创建，是杭州最早的名刹，位列中国禅宗十大古刹。寺院藏于飞来峰与北高峰之间的幽谷中，古木参天、溪声潺潺，「灵隐」之名即取「仙灵所隐」之意。寺内历代高僧辈出，济公和尚的传说即源于此。[1]
历史沿革
慧理云游至此，叹「此乃中天竺国灵鹫山之小岭，不知何年飞来」，遂建寺名灵隐。五代吴越国时期寺院鼎盛，殿宇达千三百余间；南宋时为江南禅宗「五山」之一。历代屡毁屡建，清康熙帝南巡赐名「云林禅寺」。现存大雄宝殿等建筑为清末以来重建重修。民国时期寺院再遭损毁，新中国成立后续有整修。[1]

飞来峰造像跨五代至宋元，现存三百余尊，宋代大肚弥勒笑像最为生动；大雄宝殿高 33.6 米，供奉的释迦牟尼坐像高 19.6 米，以二十四块香樟木雕成；天王殿的韦驮像以整段香樟木雕刻，古朴庄严。五百罗汉堂、济公殿与寺前的冷泉溪也值得流连。寺旁的理公塔为纪念开山祖师慧理而建。[1]
参观贴士
灵隐景区实行「两道票」：先购飞来峰景区门票，进寺再购香花券。公交 7 路及灵隐专线可达，节假日拥堵，建议清晨七点前抵达。寺内可请三炷清香，不必外带大香；游览约三小时，可顺访永福寺、韬光寺，体力好者可登北高峰。飞来峰景区内还包含永福寺与韬光寺两处古刹。[1]
Overview
In a wooded valley northwest of West Lake, Lingyin Temple — the 'Temple of the Soul's Retreat' — was founded in 326 by the Indian monk Huili, making it Hangzhou's oldest great monastery and one of China's ten famed Chan temples. Ancient trees and a murmuring stream set the retreat between Feilai Peak and North Peak.
Huili, marveling that a ridge of India's Vulture Peak had 'flown' here, built the temple; under the Wuyue kingdom it held over a thousand halls, and the Southern Song ranked it among the Five Mountains of Chan. The Hall of the Great Hero stands 33.6 meters, sheltering a 19.6-meter camphor-wood Buddha assembled from 24 carved blocks; Feilai Peak opposite carries more than 300 stone carvings from the Five Dynasties to the Yuan, including a laughing Song-dynasty Maitreya. Legends of the eccentric monk Ji Gong also began here.
Two tickets apply: one for the Feilai Peak scenic area, then a separate temple voucher. Take bus 7 or the Lingyin special line, and arrive before 7 a.m. on holidays. Free incense is provided inside — no need to bring your own. Allow about three hours, adding Yongfu and Taoguang temples or North Peak if time permits.
